LEAVES AND LIGHT...PHOTOGAPHY AND THE NATIVE LANDSCAPE

Mahi’ai Creative will hold a 2-3 day workshop in April, for students at the Hawai'i Sustainable Education Initiative (HSEI). This is the second offering in a "Photography and Native Plants" series, that has been held at  Keolamauloa Farm in Paauilo Mauka. In the previous workshop in December 2009, Kaye Lundburg talked story about native plants and trees, including a discussion on their variety and cultural value, exhibiting examples of both young and full grown. Sally led the children through several days of photography and mixed media immersion, covering beginning camera techniques and an emulsion transfer process. This upcoming workshop will continue this line of inquiry, utilizing the children's writings and photography in further mixed media work. The resulting work will be exhibited on Friday, April 30, (location to be announced) and used as backdrops for the annual play.  For more information on the Hawai'i Sustainable Education Initiative (and find out the time/location of the play), Contact: Koh Ming Wei,kohmingwei@gmail.com.
